The Fine Print
The NC discussions are open to anyone. It's a friendly place, easy to join. Just sign in on the comment box with your email address and write your comment. If you stick around, people will get to know you and you're in (except, of course, for the usual credit and criminal record checks, birth and citizenship authentication, school transcripts starting from kindergarten, photocopies of tax records, ID, credit cards, debit cards, etc.). If you turn up often and seem to get the drift of the magazine, you'll be invited to submit. Please respect the generally high level of camaraderie and amiability already in evidence.

Can you explain more about how this works, Douglas? Is this on site in Tornonto? I’m curious because numerous times I’ve wished I lived near NYC to take advantage of Saturday courses offered through the paper on a variety of fascinating subjects.
I don’t have to be onsite anywhere. I will be answering some questions online on the dates indicated in my book-lined study wearing a smoking jacket and slippers.
I actually don’t know how the rest of it works.
Laughing…don’t forget the pipe.
Right. I’ll be wearing a pipe, too.
or, pajamas with a pipe-print motif.
I can tell you how it works. It is a creative writing course. We read texts by living authors focused on some aspect of craft, sometimes straightforward, sometimes more esoteric, then do assignments based on what’s been learned, then meet the author in a Q&A. It’s an intense, and interactive program. I’ve run it five times with very good results.
