Fellow poet Starbuck – who was Sexton’s lover early on while she honed both her poetry and her appetite for fame - seemed not to care as much about the size of his pistol or his reputation, nor did he spend time thinking about categories like welters, bantams, flies and feathers, not unless he could turn the words themselves to good use with a clever rhyme
