  1. Thanks; this looks as if it may be interesting. I have a particular attachment to Oskar (a quotation from his book, “In art, there is only form and the extremity of utterance,” is pinned up on my study door). I do hope no one is accusing him of having sex with a bear, though. 🙂

  2. This is intriguing. I’ve been looking for an angle into novels set in the past, as opposed to historical novels.

    I read Captain N (long ago) as a contemporary novel, or maybe a novel set in the past implicitly counterpointing the present (a clever remark I’d be hard put to explain). There is the same moral/territorial ambiguity, past and present.
