Find Your Way

Numéro Cinq is growing exponentially, creating a maze of inter-connected texts, essays, stories, poems, translations, reviews, interviews, resource materials, and craft advice. This is what it’s meant to be. But it makes the site daunting at first glance. Here are some suggestions about how to find your way.
.

ON THE FRONT PAGE

  • The front page now includes a slider at the top that displays featured posts from the archives. Underneath that is a headline box that includes items from the current issue of the magazine–one or two added daily through the week except on weekends. Underneath the headlines, is a Recently Added section with snippets from the last six items. And at the bottom of the page are the last four issues with contents by title.
  • At the top of the right hand column is a subscription box. You can get NC sent to your email, or you can join us on Twitter, Facebook, Stumbleupon, or Reddit.
  • Down the right hand side of the page are a series of icons that lead you to the contents of the magazine by genre.
  • The About button takes you to a descriptive page about the site, complete with testimonials, history, the origin of the name, etc.
  • Contents controls a dropdown menu that will take you to the archives by genre.
  • You can leave a comment in the box at the bottom of any work.
  • There is now a Links page for our friends. And news page for announcements about NC and its staff. Also an Omens page—self-explanatory.
  • The Search box is at the top of the right hand column. You can search subjects or authors within NC.

THE SOMEWHAT DISORIENTING VARIETY OF KINDS OF PUBLICATION EXPLAINED

  • There are by-invitation-only magazine publications (poetry, art work, nonfiction and fiction) that are listed in the table of contents for the magazine on the right hand column.
  • There are craft essays.
  • There are little essays on writing and craft produced by the contributors and contributing editors.

The Fine Print

The NC discussions are open to anyone. It's a friendly place, easy to join. Just sign in on the comment box with your email address and write your comment. If you stick around, people will get to know you and you're in (except, of course, for the usual credit and criminal record checks, birth and citizenship authentication, school transcripts starting from kindergarten, photocopies of tax records, ID, credit cards, debit cards, etc.). If you turn up often and seem to get the drift of the magazine, you'll be invited to submit. Please respect the generally high level of camaraderie and amiability already in evidence.

The management wishes to acknowledge the financial support of Douglas "Deep-Pockets" Glover and no one else.
