Birthday Girl: A Story of the Boston Marathon Bombing | Fiction --- Laura K. Warrell | Numéro Cinq
Shortly after the climax of the days of terror following the Boston Marathon bombing, when police discovered the younger brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, wounded and hiding in boat in a backyard, Internet rumors started to fly. Impressionable teenage girls were said to have developed crushes on the handsome, boyish, curly-haired fugitive. To some, he was the victim (forgetting the maimed and murdered victims left in the street that terrible day). Laura K. Warrell took the rumor as inspiration and with rather stunning speed wrote a story about a girl who falls in love with the boyish terrorist and with frightening aplomb takes off on her bicycle through the streets of the militarized city to find him.
