Wait a sec! “Accident!” Loaded gun lying on a bed, party, 4-year-old wandering around — which part of this was the accident? What is the difference between “accident” and, say, “stupidity.”

On the other hand, there is the NRA argument: If all the guests at the party had been similarly armed, there is a chance they could have shot the 4-yr-old first and thus saved a life. Now there’s a thought.

NASHVILLE — Authorities say a 4-year-old boy grabbed a loaded gun at a family cookout and accidentally shot and killed the wife of a Tennessee sheriff’s deputy.

  1. I saw this today and was depressed all over again. What part of “Come upstairs to see my etchings/loaded guns” did someone think was a great idea? And which parents didn’t have their eyes glued to their four-year-old? And WHO LEAVES A LOADED GUN LYING ON A BED AT A PARTY AFTER YOU’VE SHOWN IT OFF????????????? WITH CHILDREN RUNNING AROUND???????? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?????????

Thank you for the space to rant.

    • Ah, don’t get me started. I thought my post was pretty restrained under the circumstances. I am waiting for the NRA lawsuit.

    • But the direct answer to your question, Who are these people? — law enforcement officer.

      • No. God, no. Here in Washington a law enforcement officer left his loaded gun in the backseat of his car and went into a 7-11 while his children also were in the back seat. Guess how that turned out? I don’t know if there is a word strong enough for this. Imbecile? Criminal? Idiot? We don’t even have the language for it, do we?
